The following exercise is based on the PBS video series “The Art Assignment.” Begin by watching the video on artist Diana Shpungin and follow the instructions below to make a 3-dimensional object using the materials of your choice. After documenting what you made, post the images to our discussion board, and do a short write-up on the experience.

Find and object you feel bad for.

Fix it in your own style.

Document your object (3 views on neutral backdrop) and post to discussion board.

Post a 300-400 word essay about why you were drawn to this topic, why you made what you made, and what you learned from the process.

Now go back to the discussion board and check out images of what four of your fellow classmates made and read their write-ups. Submit a substantive comment (3-4 sentence minimum) for each of the 4 people on their work\statement.

Finally, read and reply to all the comments made to you about your piece and write a thoughtful reply (2 sentences minimum).
